A couple died reportedly after the wife fell on her husband from the rooftop of their newly-built building in Chittagong city today.
The deceased were identified as schoolteacher Rajib Shil, 42, and his wife Sanchita Shil, 35, also assistant food inspector of Hathazari upazila.
Abdul Majid, officer-in-charge of Akbar Shah Police Station, said cornice of the rooftop of the four-storey building broke down with Sanchita around 6:45am and fell on Rajib standing on the ground in Purba Firoz Shah colony.
Both the husband and wife died on the spot, the OC said.
The accident occurred when Sanchita was plucking flowers from a nearby tree with a stick for worship, he added.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to the morgue of Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
