Crack in 4-storey Dhaka building leads to evacuation
Residents of a four-storey building at Siddique Bazar in Old Dhaka have been evacuated after a crack was noticed in its wall this morning.
Informed by local police, separate teams of Fire Service and Civil Defence and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) rushed to the scene and evacuated the residents, said Abdul Kuddus Fakir, officer-in-charge of Bangshal Police Station.
Family members of three tin-shed houses adjacent to the building were also shifted considering their safety, the OC said.
The officials of Rajuk and fire service were examining the crack till noon when the report was filed.
