‘Under 18 can’t slaughter sacrificial animals’
Those under 18 years will not be allowed to slaughter sacrificial animals during Eid-ul-Azha from this year, the government said today.
As per a resolution issued by the Local Government and Rural Development ministry, those, aged below 18 years, will not be allowed to take part in slaughtering animals.
The instruction is already in place but from this year the government will enforce it strictly, the ministry secretary Abdul Malek told reporters after a meeting at the Secretariat presided over by LGRD Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.
The ministry in the meeting fixed 2,943 places in 11 city corporation areas across the country for slaughtering animals on the Eid-ul-Azha day, the secretary said.
A total of 11 mobile courts led by the local city corporations’ chief executive officers will be active in the areas of the cities. If the instructions will not be followed strictly, the authorities will take legal action against the rule violators, Secretary Malek said.
There will be 4,885 Imams and 12,638 butchers dedicated for the slaughtering activities. All the activities regarding the slaughtering animals will have to be completed within two or three hours in the fixed places.
