Two rice traders stabbed, robbed of Tk 33.2 lakh
Criminals looted Tk 33.2 lakh from two rice traders after stabbing them in broad daylight in Parbatipur upazila of the district yesterday.
The injured are Hazrat Ali Sardar, 39, of Hakimpur upazila, and Sanjoy Kumar Roy, 35, of Parbatipur upazila town.
The incidents took place at Haldibari rail gate and Puratanbazar in the town within a span of 15 minutes.
Witnesses said a gang of three criminals reached Haldibari rail gate area at around 9:00am, riding a motorbike. They intercepted Hazrat Ali, stabbed him and took away Tk 31 lakh. Ali was going to Saidpur to purchase paddy.
He was rushed to Parbatipur Upazila Health Complex and then referred to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
In another incident, criminals stabbed Sanjoy Kumar at Puratanbazar at around 9:15am and looted Tk 2.2 lakh from him. Sanjoy was going to Dhanhati, a paddy market, in the upazila. Locals took him to the health heath complex.
