Two killed in Jhenidah ‘gunfight’
Two suspected criminals were killed in a “shootout” with police at Tatulbaria village in Jhenidah sadar upazila early today.
The victims were identified as Shahid Al-Mahmud, 25, son of Rajab Ali Mollah of Badanpur village and Anis Ahmed, 24, of Kushtia, reports our local correspondent quoting police.
Police also recovered a locally made pistol, two rounds of bullets, five daggers and five hand-made bombs from the spot, said Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ajbahar Ali Sheikh of Jhenidah circle.
While patrolling on Tatultala-Naldanga road last night, some criminals hurled 4-5 crude bombs on the police and fired shots targeting them, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate, triggering a “gunfight”.
At one stage, two gang members were caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while their other associates managed to flee.
