Sylhet college girl ‘attacker’ arrested
The man, who allegedly stabbed a college girl in broad daylight on Sunday in Jakiganj upazila of Sylhet, was arrested this morning.
Bahar, 24, was arrested in Mirzachak Haor area of the upazila, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Habibur Rahman Howlader, officer-in-charge of Jakiganj Police Station.
Jhuma Begum, a class twelve student of Beanibazar Government College, suffered injuries in her left hand and abdomen after Bahar attacked her with a sharp weapon.
She is now undergoing treatment Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital, doctors said adding that Jhuma is out of danger now.
Earlier, police detained Bahar’s elder brother Nasir Uddin in connection with the attack.
On Sunday, Jhuma was on her way to home along with her younger sister and mother when Bahar intercepted them and proposed her to marry.
As she turned down the proposal, the accused stabbed her indiscriminately.
Jhuma’s mother Karima Begum was also assaulted during the attack.
A case was filed with Jakiganj Police Station on Monday.
