Stalking victim lands in hospital
A college girl was assaulted allegedly by her stalker in Rajapur upazila yesterday.
Victim Anysha Aktar, 17, daughter of Shahalom Hawlader of Rola village, was admitted to the upazila health complex with injuries on her face.
She passed the HSC examinations from Alhaj Lalmohon Hamid Mohila College, said Harun-ur-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Rajapur Police Station.
Mainul Islam, 28, son of Tanjer Shikder of Dakkhin Rajapur used to stalk the girl for long, said the victim's family.
“As I refused his love and marriage proposals, Mainul attacked me at my aunt's house in Razapur Bazar area last month,” Anysha said, adding that she did not even come out from her house for fear of Mainul as he continued threatening her since the incident.
Aysha came to a computer shop at Rajapur Bazar for filing her admission form for degree (pass) on online in the afternoon while a friend of Mainul followed her, she added.
“When I came out of the computer shop, Mainul and his friends got me on a motorbike forcibly and tried to take me to the stalker's house,” said Anysha.
“When I wanted to jump off the bike, they started assaulting me,” she said.
Hearing the hue and cry, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. However, Mainul and his accomplices managed to flee the scene.
Mainul told this correspondent over phone that he assaulted the girl a bit as she misbehaved with him.
Preparation to file a case is going on in this regard when this report was filed around 6:00pm yesterday, said the OC.
