Shariatpur war crimes accused dies in DMCH
A war crimes accused of Shariatpur died early today at Dhaka Medical College Hospital due to old age complications.
Sulaiman Mollah, 84, from Kashipur Muslimpara, died after he was rushed to DMCH around 1:30am, Jahangir Kabir, senior jail superintendent of the Dhaka Central Jail, told The Daily Star.
The accused fell sick in the jail around seven or eight hours after he was taken to the International Crimes Tribunal yesterday afternoon, he said.
Sulaiman was arrested on June 14 last year for his alleged involvement in war crimes during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
He was organiser of two anti-liberation organisations -- Shariatpur Peace Committee and Razakar Bahini -- in 1971, according to the charges sheet of the case.
