Shackled Madaripur 14-yr-old boy rescued
A minor boy – tied up in shackles for two days over allegations of stealing – has been rescued by the law enforcers in Madaripur’s Shibchar upazila this evening.
The victim Mehedi Hasan, 14, son of Manwar Kha, of adjacent Jajira upazila, was a cable TV service worker, reports our local correspondent quoting police.
Hasan was tied in chains and tortured at the house of one Kamrul Hasan Bepari over allegations of stealing a mobile handset, said Md Zakir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shibchar Police Station.
On information, police rescued the boy around 6:00pm and admitted him to local health complex. “Kamrul was detained in this connection,” the OC said.
The wounded boy told The Daily Star that he was tied in iron chains and tortured “without reason”. “I did not steal any mobile phone.”
