Saudi job seeker’s migration cost fixed at Tk 1.65 lakh
The government has fixed Tk 1,65,000 migration cost including air fare for each Bangladeshi workers seeking jobs in Saudi Arabia.
If a Saudi employee bears the air fare, then the cost will be lesser, said an office order issued in this regard by the Director General of Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) Selim Reza yesterday.
Previously, several male workers got visas through their relatives or agencies by spending Tk 5 lakh to Tk 10 lakh each.
The kingdom, Bangladesh's largest overseas labour market, in an announcement on August 10 said Bangladeshi migrant jobseekers won't have to pay private recruiting agencies to get work visas for Saudi Arabia.
On the same day, the Middle Eastern country lifted a seven-year ban on recruitment of Bangladeshi male workers.
The BMET authorities in a meeting with Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira) took the decision that no private recruiting agencies will be able take more money other than the fixed amount.
