Satisfied, law minister lauds Hoshi murder trial
Law Minister Anisul Huq today expressed satisfaction with the verdict of Japanese Kunio Hoshi killing case and termed it as a model example of fast trial.
“If such fast track trials continue in the future, there will be no case backlogs in the future,” he told reporters during a briefing at his Secretariat office.
The government will keep vigilance on the trial proceedings in other sensational murder cases so that those trial proceedings are packed up quickly, he added.

His comments came following a Rangpur court’s verdict in the killing case of Kunio Hoshi – a Japanese national who was murdered in 2015. Five militants were sentenced to death.
‘Transport strike regrettable’
The law minister also regretted the transport strike clamped by transport workers, called in response to conviction of two fellow transport workers in courts.
“Enforcing transport blockade against a court verdict is regrettable,” he said.
The law minister added that “the court will consider if their statement is acceptable. But the blockade enforcers could not make people suffer this way.”
