Sale of advance train tickets begins
Bangladesh Railway authorities began selling advance train tickets from today to ensure hassle-free journey for Eid-ul-Fitr holidaymakers.
Commuters started collecting tickets at Dhaka’s Kamalapur and Chittagong railway stations from 8:00am.
Meanwhile, the railway authorities have cancelled leave of its officials and employees for providing smooth train services, a railway official told The Daily Star.
The sale will continue till June 26 and a commuter will be able to buy highest four tickets at a time.
Return tickets will be distributed on July 4, 5 and 8 for July 8, 9 and 12 respectively while tickets of July 7 will be available on July 10 and 11.
Seven pairs of special trains have been added to the existing ones in order to facilitate the holidaymakers.
A special team of law enforcers has been deployed at the rail stations to check black marketing of tickets.
Selling advance tickets for the Eid holidaymakers are going on for the third consecutive day.
