Robbers kill youth, injure five in Bhola
A young man was stabbed to death and five others were injured by robbers at South Fashion village in Charfashion upazila early yesterday.
The deceased is Jakir Hossain, 30, son of Sidu Sardar of the village.
Two of the injured--Alauddin, 28, and Liton, 24--were admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital while the rest to Charfashion Upazila Health Complex.
Quoting locals and victim's family members, police said a gang of 20/25 armed robbers entered the house of one Abdus Shahid Gazi, 50, of the village around 12:30am.
The gang looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from the house after stabbing Shahid Gazi, his father Momin Gazi, 80, and Rubel, 22 indiscriminately.
Hearing screams, neighbours rushed in and tried to catch the robbers. The gang members stabbed Jakir, Alauddin and Liton severely, leaving them critically injured.
Villagers took all the six injured to Charfashion Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared Jakir death, said Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge of Chrarfashion Police Station.
Deputy Commissioner Md Selim Reza and Police Superintendent Md Moniruzzaman visited the spot yesterday.
Away in Satkhira, police arrested two members of a forest robber gang from Khalisabunia area in Shyamnagar upazila yesterday, reports UNB.
One of the arrestees was identified as Karim, a resident of Chandimukhi village in the upazila, while the identity of the other could not be known.
Locals caught the duo while they were passing through the area on a motorbike in the morning and handed them over to the police, said Imran, sub-inspector of Shyamnagar Police Station.
