Rising attacks on troopers at border: BSF chief
Indian Border Security Force Director General KK Sharma today expressed concerns over the “rising attacks on border troopers” at Bangladesh border.
As a reason, he pointed at BSF’s strategy to “use non-lethal weapons” at the border while speaking during the five-day conference of the two border guards in Dhaka.
“Our troops used non-lethal weapons along the borders only for their self-defence,” he said.
BGB Director General Maj Gen Abul Hossain in the briefing said: “Both BGB and BSF earlier took decisions to investigate the border killings in order to stop it. But we don’t have the authority to do so.”
So this year we will identify the spots along the border areas where the killings took places and later on we will take next steps in this regard,” he said.
