Rangamati landslide victims get new clothes ahead of Eid
“I am happy to get new clothes but if I could be in my own home for Eid with my near and dear ones, I would be much happier.”
Taslimah Akhther of Rupnagar area in Rangamati is among the many victims who feel the same way after a series of landslides hit the district on June 12 and killed at least 120 people.
She was talking to our Rangamati correspondent after receiving new clothes from Rangamati District Adminstration today.
The district administration started distributing clothes among those affected in the landslides this afternoon, the correspondent reports quoting Deputy Commissioner Manzarul Mannan.
The clothes will be distributed in a total of 19 shelters in the district, the DC said. “We have left all our other commitments to be with the victims and will also have Eid lunch with the victims of the landslide,” Manzarul Mannan said
