Rail route blocked for stoppage of intercity trains
Demanding stoppage of intercity trains at Biddyaganj Railway Station, hundreds of people yesterday blocked the Mymensingh-Jamalpur rail route in Mymensingh's Sadar upazila for an hour from 9:00am.
They demanded stoppage of intercity trains Brahmaputra, Agnibina, Jamuna, and Commuter-2 at the railway station.
On information, police rushed to the spot and assured the agitating people that they would inform the authorities concerned and the local administration about their demands immediately and urged them to withdraw the barricade.
The agitators withdrew the barricade, threatening that if their demand was not met in seven days they would go for tougher agitation.
Movement of several trains, including Brahmaputra, was disrupted due to the blockade.
