Protest against land grabbing
Indigenous people yesterday staged a demonstration in front of the deputy commissioner's office here protesting land grabbing.
They also submitted a memorandum to the DC.
Tong Para Grambasi O Adivasi Sudhijon organised the meeting with indigenous women's leader Kutila Rajoar in the chair.
Speakers alleged that the criminals have been grabbing their arable lands, residences, ponds, graveyards, cremation ground and a temple's land, especially in Tong Para.
They urged the authorities concerned to ensure their security and demanded arrest and punishment of the culprits.
Chapainawabganj unit Adivasi Parishad Organising Secretary Bimol Rajoar and Uttarbanga Adivasi Forum President Hingu Murmu spoke at the rally.
