Patrons of Gulshan, Sholakia attacks to be brought to justice anytime: Home minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said there was political patronisation behind the Gulshan and Sholakia militant attacks.
"The masterminds behind these attacks will be brought to justice at any time," he said.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion at the Krishibid Institution auditorium at Farm Gate in Dhaka.
The home minister said, "Certainly, there was political patronisation (behind the militant attacks) of those who committed such incidents in the past and have also been indulging in such attacks. I want to say in clear-cut terms, those we had nabbed recently confessed that they had been identified at times or now as Jamaat-e-Islami cadres and they had conducted the attacks."
"Not only the cadres of Jamaat-e-Islami, they are also cadres of banned militant outfits. You also know as to who have sheltered and indulged them to became militants. You have also witnessed the emergence of militant kingpin Bangla Bhai at Bagmara in Rajshahi. You also know better who were at the helm of our state affairs then," he added.
Kamal also said, "The country's police force should not be considered as they were in the past. The present security force is very skilled and professional."
Dhaka City North unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) organised the programme marking the National Mourning Day commemorating the 41st anniversary of the martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
