PM to uphold Bangladesh in Vienna conference
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will uphold her steps in developing Bangladesh in the light of science, technology and innovation at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conference, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said today.
Her attendance will reinforce Bangladesh’s stand on world peace and its policy against spread of nuclear weapon worldwide, the foreign minister said in a presser arranged ahead of PM’s visit.
Prime Minister Hasina will visit Vienna on May 30 to attend a conference of IAEA in observance of its 60 years journey.
The premier along with the presidents of Uruguay and Mauritius and high UN officials will address the opening session of the international conference on “IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme: Sixty Years and Beyond — Contributing to Development” on May 30.
Regarding the establishment of Rooppur nuclear power plant, the foreign minister said it will be in line with the policy of peaceful use of nuclear energy and under complete supervision of experts.
Bangladesh has been a member of IAEA since Sep 27, 1972.
