PM flies to Bhutan tomorrow
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to leave Dhaka for Thimphu tomorrow on a three-day official visit to Bhutan to attend an international conference on autism and have bilateral meetings with Bhutanese leadership.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali briefed journalists on the PM’s visit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka this afternoon.
The premier will be attending the three-day ‘International Conference on Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders’ that will be held at the Royal Banquet Hall in Thimphu from April 19.
Six bilateral agreements will be signed between Bangladesh PM and her Bhutanese counterpart on different issues including agriculture, cultural cooperation, and using of Bangladesh’s inland water route by Bhutan, among others, during the visit.
Hasina will chair a high-level discussion titled "Enabling countries to successfully address autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders as part of their Sustainable Development Goals" at the conference on April 19.
During the visit, PM Hasina will also hold meetings with Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and discuss bilateral and regional issues, which will be followed by signing of six bilateral agreements between the Bangladesh PM and her Bhutanese counterpart.
The six agreements will be on different issues including agriculture, cultural cooperation, and using of Bangladesh’s inland water route by Bhutan, among others, during the visit, the minister said.

BSS adds: The premier and her entourage members will take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka for the Bhutanese capital tomorrow morning on a Druk Air VVIP flight which is scheduled to reach Thimphu at 11:35am local time.
Bhutanese PM Tshering Tobgay and Bangladesh Ambassador in Thimphu Jishnu Roy Choudhury will receive the PM Hasina at the airport.
The premier will return to Dhaka on Thursday, April 20, in the morning after wrapping up her three-day official visit.
