No salary for staff of 226 municipalities for 52 months
The workers of 226 municipalities across the country have been getting no salary, allowance or bonus for up to 52 months.
The government workers of various grades at a press conference today demanded the government to pay their salary and arrears from the state treasury, if needed.
The conference was organized at Jatiya Press Club by Bangladesh Municipality Officials and Employees Association where its central committee president Abdul Ali Molla placed the demands.
Despite being government workers, over 32,500 employees of various municipalities did not get their salary for months and are spending days in misery, said Mujahidul Islam Tusher, Joint General Secretary told The Daily Star.
