Nahid's murder was planned
Cultural activist Nahidul Islam Nahid was murdered in a planned way.
Cultural and social activists claimed this at a press conference at Dinajpur Press Club yesterday. Family members of the victim were also present.
They urged police to arrest the killers immediately, said Sultan Kamal Uddin Bachchu, general secretary of Dinajpur unit of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote.
On February 26, activist of Dinajpur Udichi unit Nahid, 33, music teacher of Dinajpur Collectorate School and College, was found in an unconscious state near Yammi Chinese Restaurant in the town. He was rushed to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
A doctor primarily said Nahid died from cardiac arrest. But in autopsy report, it was later found that he was beaten to death, said Bachchu, quoting a doctor.
On the other hand, police remained silent mysteriously over the incident, he said.
They will go for tougher programme if the killers are not arrested immediately, said the speakers.
Family members said they went to Dinajpur Sadar Police Station to file a murder case but police did not register it.
Officer-in-Charge Redwanur Rahim said they will take initiative to register the case after the autopsy report reaches the police station.
