Menon, Anisul, Tarana reappointed in major cabinet reshuffle

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today made major reshuffle in her cabinet, making way for some new faces, in the final year of her government ahead of the coming parliamentary election.

A gazette notification has been issued today, redistributing portfolios for Workers Party Chairman Rashed Khan Menon, and Awami League leaders Tarana Halim and Anisul Islam Mahmood.

Sworn in last night, AKM Shahjahan Kamal, a lawmaker from Laxmipur, has replaced Menon as the Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism. Menon has been made minister for social welfare.

The portfolios of Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmood and Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain were swapped among each other.

Tarana Halim who was the state minister for post and telecommunications, highlighted for several key moves regarding the telecom industry, was made state minister for information ministry.

Kazi Keramat Ali, the lawmaker from Rajbari and also sworn in yesterday, has been given the portfolio of state minister for technical and madrasa education department.
