Medical board refers injured imam to Dhaka
A five-member medical board of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) in the district yesterday decided to refer the injured imam, a victim of the recent gun attack on a Shia mosque, to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment.
The imam, Md Shahinur Islam, 35, son of Mojibur Rahman of Chokkanu village in Shibganj upazila, was bullet-hit as some unidentified gunmen swooped on Al Mostafa Mosque, locally known as Shia mosque, at Chokkanu village in Shibganj on November 26.
The attack also left the muajjin of the mosque killed and there others injured.
“Considering the physical condition of Shahinur, we have decided to refer him to DMCH for better treatment,” said Dr Rezaul Alam Jewel, vice principal of SZMCH, who led the board.
Superintendent of Police Md Asaduzzaman said they will provide all-out support to shift Shahinur to Dhaka.
