Man who planted a tree every day of his life honoured
The Daily Star today honoured a rickshaw-puller from Faridpur who spent his last 48 years planting a tree every day of his life.
Young changemakers of Bangladesh handed an honourium of Tk 1 lakh to hexagenarian Abdus Samad during The Daily Star's 26th anniversary programme in Dhaka.
"People like Abdus Samad inspire us all to do good, make a footprint in contribution of good for our society," said Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star, during the ceremony.
"We might not make big contributions, but we can all take an oath to make a small change for the good of nature and people," he said.
Abdus Samad, after receiving the honourium, urged all to plant a tree and save the nature.
"I can't do it alone, I need the help of you all," he said in the local Faridpur accent.
