Khadiza finally reunites with her family
College student Khadiza Begum Nargis returned her home in Sylhet Sadar upazila today, around five months into her treatment in Dhaka following the brutal attack by a former BCL man.
She landed at Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport around 1:00 pm from Dhaka and returned to her home at Hausha village by a car making all happy, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
“We are all happy for her return,” Abdul Kuddus, an uncle of Khadiza, told the daily.
Demanding punishment of the attacker, he said none should ever come under such brutal attack like Khadiza.
Khadiza was brutally hacked by expelled Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) activist and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) student Badrul Alam on October 3, triggering a widespread outcry across the country. Later, Badrul was handed over to police by locals.
She was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital first in critical condition and then shifted to Square Hospitals in Dhaka.
After her condition improved, she was admitted to CRP on November 28. She returned to the home for a week on February 1.
Khadiza is almost cured but she will need years of treatment for her complete recovery, CRP authority said at a press briefing yesterday.
Badrul, the lone accused in the case and now in jail, is now under trial at Chief Metropolitan Court (CMM) of Sylhet.
