Jailed militants under strict vigilance
Additional Inspector General of Prisons Col Iqbal Hassan today said militants currently held in jail are under strict vigilance.
They are not being allowed to hold meetings or communicate within prison, the additional prisons chief said.
The family members of detained militants can meet them inside the jail as the jail is treated as a correction centre, the IG Prisons said. Police remain present while the family members meet them inside the jail.
The prison official made the comments while talking to reporters at the office of Supreme Court Registrar General. Col Iqbal was present at a press briefing while the SC registrar general handed over books worth Taka 1 lakh to Kashmipur jails in Gazipur.
The Chief Justice donated the books for the prisoners of Kashimpur jails.
The SC registrar general Syed Aminul Islam told the media that the CJ in his visit to Kashimpur Jail 2 on June 26 observed that the number of books at the jail library was insufficient for the prisoners.
A total of 122 kinds of books mostly on Liberation War, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Rabindranath Tagore were donated, he added.
