Indian returns after 17 months in jail
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent back an Indian national to his country through Hili immigration post in Hakimpur upazila yesterday, 17 months after his arrest.
Parajoy Barman, 28, son of Ramlagan Barman, hails from Bilpara village under Raiganj Police Station of West Begnal's Dakkhin Dinajpur in India.
Aftab Hossain, in-charge of Hili Immigration, said BGB detained the man from Ghasuria border in Birampur upazila in 2016. Later, the arrestee was produced before a court that sent him to Dinajpur jail.
On Tuesday, Immigration police handed Parajoy over to Bikash Mandal, in-charge of Hili Immigration in India, after completing the formalities between the two neighbouring countries.
