Indian army chief arrives Mar 31
Chief of army staff of the Indian army, General Bipin Rawat will arrive in Dhaka on March 31 for a three-day visit to Bangladesh.
He is coming at the invitation from the Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh Army, General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, said to a press release of the High Commission of India today.
This visit is part of the ongoing high level exchanges between the armed forces of both countries.
The Bangladesh army chief had last visited India in September 2015 and the Air Force and Navy Chiefs had visited India in 2016. The Indian air force and navy chiefs had also visited Bangladesh in 2016.
Considering the importance of the bilateral relationship the Indian army chief has chosen to visit Bangladesh in his first international tour after being appointed the army chief on January 1 this year.
The Indian Army Chief will be accompanied by his spouse, Madhulika Rawat, and a four-member delegation.
The delegation will call on President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and interact with the senior military leadership. The army chief will also address the student officers at the National Defence College, Mirpur.
