Holidaymakers’ long queues for Sep 8 rail tickets
Kamalapur Railway Station is witnessing long queues as large number of holidaymakers gathered there this afternoon to buy advance tickets for September 8, three days before Eid-ul-Azha.
The number of Eid holidaymakers is much more than that of yesterday till filing of this report at 1:30pm, reports our correspondent from the spot.
The sale of advance tickets resumed today for the second consecutive day. The railway authorities yesterday started selling tickets for September 7.
Tickets for September 8, 9, 10 and 11 will be sold on August 30 and 31 and September 1 and 2.
The authorities were instructed to sell tickets for all people who went there to buy tickets, Railway Minister Mujibul Haque said after visiting the railway station around 10:30am.
He further said that a train service from Dhaka to Mohanganj will be launched from September 8. Mohanganj is an upazila of Netrakona district.
He hoped that the service will reduce the rush ahead of Eid.
Eid-ul-Azha is expected to be celebrated on September 12.
