Hearing on charge framing deferred again

A court here yesterday once again deferred the hearing on charge framing in Rupa Khatun rape and murder case.
Judge Abdul Mannan of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order after defence lawyer submitted a petition seeking adjournment of the hearing, advocate Ataur Rahman Azad, general secretary of Bangladesh Manobadhikar Bastobayon Sangstha's Tangail unit, said, adding that the court also fixed November 29 for the next hearing.
Earlier on November 13, hearing on the charge framing was deferred as the judge of the tribunal was on leave.
On October 15, investigation officer of the case Kaiyum Khan submitted the charge sheet to the Judicial Magistrate's Court. Later, the case was transferred to the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
Police recovered Rupa's body, then unidentified, on August 25.
Seeing the news in different print and electronic media, Rupa's family members went to Madhupur Police Station on August 28 and identified the victim.
The following day, police detained bus driver Habibur, 45, supervisor Safar Ali, 55, and helpers Shamim, 26, Akram, 35, and Jahangir, 20, from Madhupur.
Later, all the arrestees gave confessional statements before the court on August 29 and 30, admitting their involvement in the crime.
