Eco Social Development Organisation (ESDO) organised the event under South Asia Wash Result Programme in association with Water and Sanitation for Urban Poor (WSUP), an international development organisation, with financial assistance from UK AID.
Seven little doctors' teams, each comprising 15 kids, from seven primary schools in Thakurgaon Sadar exchanged their knowledge among the students, teachers and guardians at the programme on Puratan Thakurgaon Government Primary School premises yesterday.
After receiving training on health issues like personal hygiene, nutrition, de-worming and measuring weight and height, the children are regarded as “Little Doctors” and then follow a specific guideline.
They also demonstrated proper hand wash system at the programme with Executive Director of ESDO Dr Muhammad Shahid-Uz-Zaman in the chair.
The programme has been built on the concept of child-to-child education, which engages children in learning about health issues and encourages them to disseminate their knowledge to other children, their families and their communities.
