Freedom fighter 'punched to death' in Narsingdi
A freedom fighter was reportedly punched to death by his neighbour in Madhabdi upazila of Narsingdi this afternoon.
The deceased Hazrat Ali, 70, took part in the Liberation War under sector-3 in 1971, our local correspondent reports quoting Motalib Pathan, president of the district unit Muktijoddha Command Council.
Ali locked into an altercation with his neighbours Al Amin and Alam around 1:30pm over pasting posters on a wall ahead of the Kathalia union parishad re-election scheduled to be held on October 31, said Yeasin Mollah, officer-in-charge of Madhabdi Police Station.
At one stage, Alam punched to Ali, leaving him critically injured, the police official said quoting witnesses.
Ali died on his way to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, he added. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital for autopsy.
In an impromptu reaction, Motalib Pathan, president of the district unit Muktijoddha Command Council, demanded immediate arrest of the killer and justice for Ali.
