Elderly man dies in land feud
An elderly man was killed and three others were injured in a clash over a piece of disputed land in Joypurhat Sadar.
Joynal Abedin, 65, of Faridpur village succumbed to his injuries at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZRMCH) in Bogra yesterday.
The injured are Harun Ur Rashid and Tarun Hossain, sons of late Abdur Rouf, and Sirajul Islam, son of late Chhalamat Ali of the village.
Police said Joynal Abedin went to a disputed land in Faridpur village to plant a tree, but his opponent Motiur Rahman along with neighbour Anisur Rahman tried to prevent him, triggering a clash on Tuesday.
Four people were injured during the incident.
Of them, Joynal was rushed to Joypurhat General Hospital and then shifted to SZRMCH as his condition worsened. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital the following day.
Four people were arrested in this connection, said Farid Hossain, officer-in-charge of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station.
The arrestees are Akrot and Bokul, sons of Abdul Hakim, Shahidul Islam, son of Abdul Motin and Shahjahan Ali, son of Mahfuzur Rahman.
