‘Drug trader’ killed in Jessore gunfight
A suspected drug trader was killed in a “gunfight” between two rival groups at Shikri Battala in Benapole early today.
The deceased was identified as Selim, 45, son of Taher of Bhaberber area in Benapole.
Tipped off that two gangs of drug traders were exchanging gunfire over establishing their dominance in the area, a team of police went to the spot and recovered the bullet-hit body of Selim, said Apurba Hasan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station.
Selim was wanted in several cases filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Police also recovered one foreign made pistol and two bullets from the spot.
