Conjoined twins at DMCH under treatment
The conjoined twin baby girls, born through a caesarean operation in Chuadanga on Wednesday, were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital today.
They are currently under treatment, Associate Prof Shahnoor Islam Associate Prof Shahnoor Islam, who is supervising the treatment of the infants, told The Daily Star.
“We gave some test to be performed on the infants. After getting reports, we will be able to say whether we can separate the conjoined twins,” she said.
The conjoined twin baby girls were shifted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in the capital yesterday. They were shifted to Dhaka as specialist surgeons are needed for a separation surgery.
The twins are joined from chest to abdomen while their head, face, eyes, ears, hands and legs are normal, Mahmud Bin Hedayet Setu, said a physician of Jibonnagar upazila health complex in Chuadanga, who conducted the caesarean.
Father of the newborn twins, Mukul Hossain, a small farmer, has made a plea to the government for financially support for the operation needed to separate the babies.
