Chinese FM makes 7-hr stopover in Dhaka
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a seven-hour stopover till this morning at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on his way to Africa.
Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque welcomed the Chinese foreign minister at the airport around 1:50am.
When asked, a diplomat of the Chinese Embassy confirmed it saying that the foreign minister left Dhaka around 9:00am today.
"Yes, the minister had a stopover for technical reason," the diplomat said without any elaboration.
Wang was on his way of an official visit to Madagascar, Zambia, Tanzania, Republic of Congo and Nigeria from January 7 to 12, Chinese media quoted its Foreign Ministry Spokes person Geng Shuang as saying.
At the invitation of President Abdul Hamid, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Bangladesh on October 14 and 15 last year.
