BR inaugurates 2 new trains ahead of Eid
The Bangladesh Railway authorities today inaugurated two new trains at Kamalapur Railway Station ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
They have also set up a new rail line between Dhaka and Mohanganj of Netrakona.
The old Sundarban Express plying the Dhaka-Khulna route has been completely replaced with a new train, which has 12 coaches including two AC chair coaches and two AC cabins and a powered car, under the same name, Director (Engineering and Estate) of Bangladesh Railway Mamunul Islam told The Daily Star.
The new Sundarban Express started its maiden journey after it was inaugurated at 7:00am by Director General of Bangladesh Railway Amjad Hossain.
Meanwhile, the authorities also inaugurated a new train Mohanganj Express, which will run on the new route between Dhaka and Mohanganj. Railway Minister Mujibul Haque, the secretary to the ministry and a few other senior officials inaugurated the train at 1:00pm.
The Mohanganj Express with 14 coaches, including one AC chair coach and one AC cabin coach, started for its maiden journey after the inauguration, Mamunul Islam said.
The Bangladesh Railway authorities recently inaugurated four new trains -- Teesta Express, Ekota Express, Dhrutojan Express and Chitra Express and also a new route -- Dhaka-Jamalpur.
