Body of missing cattle trader found on border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered the body of a missing cattle trader from the Punorbhaba River along the border of Kolmudanga in Sapahar upazila under Naogoan district yesterday.
The deceased, Kabir Hossain, 28, son of Saiful Islam of Hatatpara-Kolmudanga village in Sapahar upazila, went missing on Wednesday night.
"Kabir along with two cattle traders went to India through Kolmudanga border on Tuesday night. They were returning to Bangladesh along with cattle on Wednesday night, crossing the Punarbhaba River, but Kabir drowned in the river along with his buffalo," said Lt Col Rafiqul Hasan, Commanding Officer of 14 Patnitala BGB Battalion in Naogaon.
"Locals at Kolmudanga first saw the floating body of a buffalo near the border in the morning. A few hours later, they saw Kabir's body floating on the Punarbhaba River, some 50 yards inside Indian territory from the Zero line and informed the BGB.
"Later, BGB informed Indian Border Security Force and with their permission, went to the area, confirmed the body to be Kabir's, and brought it around 2:30pm. No injury marks were found on the body," the BGB official said.
Police sent the body to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
