Bangladesh brings changes in 5 missions abroad
The Bangladesh government has brought several changes to major missions in India, US and China and also the foreign ministry through transfers and fresh appointments.
The second tiers changes at missions are New Delhi and Kolkata in India, Washington in USA, and Beijing and Kunming in China, highly placed sources told The Daily Star.
The government has transferred Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Deputy High Commissioner at Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, to Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing as Deputy Ambassador.
While, ATM Rokebul Haque, Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations, New York has been appointed as the Deputy High Commissioner in New Delhi, India.
The Bangladesh deputy high commissioner in Kolkata, Zokey Ahad, has been transferred to Kunming in China as Consul-General at the Bangladesh’s Consulate General of Bangladesh, Kunming.
Zokey joined at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata in November 2014, replaced Md Daud Ali, who has been asked to join at the Foreign Ministry.
On the other hand, the government transferred Toufique Hasan, Counsellor at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC, USA as Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata, a coveted assignment for Bangladeshi diplomats.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry has appointed Rahat Bin Zaman, Director of the South Asia wing at the Foreign Ministry as Counsellor at Embassy & Permanent Mission of the of Bangladesh to the UN Offices and other International Organizations in Vienna, Austria.
