4 women of a family ‘raped by robbers’ in Ctg
A group of robbers allegedly raped four women of a family after looting valuables from a house at Karnaphuli upazila in Chittagong on December 13, police said today.
Three of the victims are wives of three Bangladeshi expatriates in Dubai while another one is their sister,” said Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Karnaphuli Zone Jahedul Islam.
The victims were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH)’s One-stop Crisis Center (OCC) for medical tests today.
The incident came to light after the victims lodged a case accusing four unidentified robbers under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Karnaphuli Police Station on Saturday, reports our Chittagong staff correspondent.
Police arrested two people in Karnaphuli area this afternoon in this connection.
The arrestees are Md Sumon alias Abu, 23, of Shahmirpur village in Karnaphuli upazila, and M Ismail of Shikalbaha area of Patiya upazila.
The AC said a group of four robbers entered the one-storey building of the victims cutting grills of the house around 1:00am and robbed gold ornaments worth TK 3, 50,000 lakhs, Tk 87,000 in cash and five mobile phones.
Later, the hoodlums raped the four women at gunpoint, said the police official.
Quoting victims, AC Jahid said no male members used to reside the house as the three brothers have been staying in Dubai and another younger brother is studying at a madrasa in Patiya upazila.
