Arms, ammo seized, two arrested
Detectives arrested two alleged arms peddlers along with pistols, bullets and magazines from a passenger bus in Banbelghoria area of Natore town on Wednesday.
The arrestees are Abdul Latif, 45, son of Belal Hossain of Terrashia village in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj, and Jahangir Hossain, 35, son of Aynal Ali of Hayderbidhi village in the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hai of Natore DB police said, a police team, acting on a tip-off, raided a Dhaka-bound passenger bus coming from Chapainawabganj around 12:15am.
They searched the bus, and arrested the duo along with two pistols, 12 bullets and four magazines.
Away in Chapainawabganj, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in a drive yesterday recovered four pistols, eight magazines and 26 bullets from a farmland at Telkupi village in Shibganj upazila the same day, reports our correspondent.
Being informed, a BGB team from Telkupi Border Observation Post (BoP) went to the village around 12:30pm and found the arms and ammunition on the land, said Major Nazmul Alam of BGB 9 Battalion.
