AL MP, 6 others sued over Mymensingh teacher killing
Local Awami League lawmaker and six others were sued in a case filed in connection with the killings of two people including a college teacher during an agitation programme in Mymensingh on November 27.
Apart from lawmaker Muslem Uddin, the case was filed against his son Advocate Emdadul Hoque, Nasir Uddin Khan and Amzad Hossain, principal and vice-principal of the college, Rifat Khan Rajib, Rafiqul Islam And Ratan, officer-in-charge (OC), sub-inspector (SI) and constable of Fulbaria Police Station, were named as accused in the case, our Mymensingh correspondent reports quoting court sources.
SM Abul Hashem, a senior teacher of Fulbaria Degree College, filed the case with the Cognisance Court No. 2 of Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahbubul Huq against the seven persons including Muslem Uddin MP, who is also the president of Fulbaria Degree College governing body.
A judicial inquiry on the killings was demanded in the case statement, SM Abul Hashem told the correspondent.
On November 27, two persons including Abul Kalam Azad, assistant professor of botany department of the college, were killed and over 100 others injured as police swooped on the agitation programme demanding nationalisation of the college in Fulbaria upazila of the district.
The other victim killed in the incident is Safor Ali, 65, a day labourer, was crossing the college area during the clash. Doctors at Fulbaria Upazila Health Complex said he was brought dead there.
The court is yet to issue any order regarding the case when this report was filed at 1:30pm.
