Aggression on culture by hegemonic force: Khaleda
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today said that a hegemonic force has established its aggression on language and culture to make the country submissive.
“A hegemonic force is carrying out cultural aggression so that we cannot stand up keeping our heads high,” Khaleda alleged in a message marking the International Mother Language Day on February 21.
The countrymen have been held hostage by the misdeeds of the one-party rule and their voting rights have also been staunched to turn the nation into a submissive one, Khaleda said.
Claiming that the spirit of the February 21 has been obscured, Khaleda, also a former prime minister, said, “yet, the spirit of the February 21 will keep encouraging us to resist the conspiracy of the hegemonic force.”
In the message, Khaleda also remembered the brave sons of the soil who sacrificed their lives for the mother tongue and sought eternal peace of their departed souls.
She also extended her deepest shock at the bereaved family members who lost their lives participating in Bangla Language Movement in 1952.
