Abida Islam new ambassador to South Korea
The government has decided to appoint Abida Islam as the next Ambassador of Bangladesh to South Korea.
A career diplomat, Abida belongs to the 15th batch of BCS Foreign Affairs Cadre, is currently serving as Director General (Americas) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said a Foreign Ministry press release today.
In her diplomatic career, she served as Deputy High Commissioner at Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata. She also served in Bangladesh Missions in London, Colombo and Brussels in different capacities.
Abida Islam successfully completed several professional training courses at home and abroad, and represented Bangladesh at a number of International Conferences, Seminars and Summits on a variety of issues.
She obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Science (Sociology) from the University of Dhaka and also another Master’s Degree in “Foreign Affairs and Trade” from Monsah University, Australia.
