88 wild birds rescued
Law enforcers in a drive caught a bird hunter red-handed and rescued 88 wild birds from his possession in Naogaon's Mahadevpur upazila on Thursday night.
The poacher, Abdus Sattar, 50, son of late Abbas Ali of Sherpur village in Sadar upazila, hunted the birds from different areas and sold them for high prices.
Police raided the Bus stand area in the upazila headquarters around 8:30pm of Thursday night and detained Sattar along with the birds.
After the arrest, police produced Sattar before a Naogaon court that sent him to the jail, said Mizanur Rahman, OC of Mahadevpur Police Station.
