6 lakh yaba tablets seized in Cox’s Bazar, 4 held
Bangladesh Coast Guard members today seized six lakh pieces of yaba in two separate drives in Saint Martin Island of Cox’s Bazar and detained four people in this connection.
The detainees are Babul Miah, Jomiruddin, Mohammad Idris and Mohammad Jubayer, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting Lt Nafiur Rahman, commander of Coast Guard Teknaf station.
A Coast Guard patrol team recovered five and a half lakh Yaba tablets from a fishing trawler in the sea adjacent to the Southpara in Saint Martin Island during the wee hours of today, the official was quoted as saying.
Later in a separate drive, another patrol team of the Coast Guard conducted a drive in a fishing trawler at 3:30am in the deep sea about two nautical miles west of Cheradia in Saint Martin Island.
Around 50,000 yaba tablets and four people were detained during the drive, the official said.
The value of the seized yaba tablets and trawlers have been estimated at Tk 30 crore, Lt Nafiur said.
