6 Jamaat men arrested with crude bombs
Police arrested six Jamaat-e-Islami men and a transport workers' leader with five crude bombs from a house at Housenagar village in Gomostapur upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The arrestees include Saidur Rahman, president of the district bus and truck labourers' union, and Kamaluddin, president of Sramik Kalayan Federation, a Jamaat-backed workers' organisation.
Shahin Kamal, officer-in-charge of Gomostapur Police Station, said police raided when a group of Jamaat men were holding a clandestine meeting at a house in the village and arrested the seven with the home-made bombs.
