Boat capsize: 4 bodies recovered from Halda river
A day into a boat capsize in Halda river of Chittagong, divers and locals recovered four bodies from the river in Fatikchhari upazila of the district today.
The deceased are as Rizvi, 12, Arman, 18, Rimon, 18, and Nurul Islam, 45, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting Kamal Uddin Bhuiyan, deputy additional director of Chittagong’s fire service and civil defence.
Divers in corporation with local people found two bodies around 9:30am and two others around 10:15am and 11:30am respectively, Bhuiyan said.
At least five people including the four went missing as the wooden boat sank in the river in Purba Shoabil area Friday afternoon.
All the passengers except the five managed swim ashore. On information, divers of Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
Rimon’s brother Rahim, 13, still remains missing, Bhuiyan said.
