40 villagers injured in Habiganj clash
At least 40 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a disputed land at Jirunda village in Habiganj's Lakhai upazila yesterday.
Of them, 15 were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital while others took treatment at different private clinics.
Quoting witnesses, Officer-in-Charge Mozammel Haque of Habiganj Police Station said an altercation took place between Abul Kalam, 34, of the village, and his neighbour Sanwar Hosain, 38, over the ownership of a disputed land.
At one stage, supporters of both the groups, equipped with bamboo sticks attacked each other around 11:00am, that left at least 40 people from both sides injured, the OC added.
